10/26/09-10/27/09 – Cerritos Center, Cerritos, CA

We were now a week into our tour and we were still in California, on our way to Cerritos, CA. I have never been to Cerritos (which is located about 25 miles from Los Angeles) and when I posted on Facebook that I was headed there, my friend Cheryl commented that “Cerritos rhymes with burritos”. As we approached the city, I couldn’t help but wonder, “Would the city be made of burritos, with burrito buildings and houses?” As Dorothy and her gang travelled the yellow brick to the city made of emerald, would our journey end at a city made of burritos?

Sadly, there were no burrito structures in Cerritos, but what we did find was the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, the most versatile theatre in the entire world. This gorgeous 1716-seat theatre has the ability to be transformed into a variety of configurations, with its moveable seats, floors, ceilings and stage areas. Check out this cool YouTube video that shows the transmutability of the theatre:

Both our Tour Manager and Technical Director had returned back to the tour, so we were feeling less harried and more structured. We had our easiest load-in yet and knew that we would have two great performances the next day.

We celebrated our first on-the-road cast birthday on 10/26/09 at Macaroni Grill in Cerritos – Happy Birthday to Meghan, our dear Theresa! There are a lot of Scorpios in the cast (of course, there are a lot of Scorpios in theatre). Many more on-the-road birthdays and many more adventures to come!

Next stop – Cal Center for the Performing Arts, Escondido, CA. Until the next adventure…

Ciao!
XOXO-
Janine
